Get a Samsung laser printer for $44.99
A little more robust than most entry-level lasers, the Samsung ML-2525 sports a 250-sheet paper tray and some nifty printing software.
This is an update of a deal from a few months ago.
Inkjet printers are all well and good, but if you mostly print black-and-white documents, nothing beats a laser.
Newegg has the Samsung ML-2525 laser printer for $44.99, plus a mere $2.99 for shipping. That's the lowest price I've seen (or can recall, at least) on this or any other laser.
The ML-2525 is your basic personal printer, one that comes with a 250-sheet paper tray, an 80-sheet output tray, a 1,500-page toner cartridge, and a USB interface. (If you want the wireless version, the ML-2525W is on sale for $79.99.)
Speaking of toner, if you don't mind remanufactured cartridges, you can pick them up for as little as $36.87. That's not bad, though if you print high volumes, you might want to look for a model with cheaper consumables.
Samsung promises an output speed of 24 pages per minute, which is pretty zippy. The ML-2525 also offers a few nifty extras, like a PrintScreen button that prints the entire contents of your screen, just like that. (Hold it for 2 seconds and you get a printout of just the active window.)
Also, Samsung's AnyWeb Print software allows you to assemble content from different Web pages onto a single, new page, without any resizing or editing. That's a good way to save paper and toner.
CNET hasn't reviewed this particular model, though it did award four stars to the aforementioned wireless version. And a couple dozen Newegg customers collectively rated it four stars out of five. Me, I say you gotta love any laser printer with a $45 price tag!
