Cookies from .de sites German Mac publications and forums note that Safari is apparently not able to accept cookies from some sites bearing the .de suffix. The OCparadise.de Web site notes (roughly translated from German): "As all German users of Apple's new WebBrowser Safari had to experience meanwhile sorrowfully, Safari in its current beta version stores no Cookies of .de sides, or at least not from all (falk.de goes exeptionally)." A workaround, requiring OmniWeb, and SafariCookieCutter is available from the same site - in German. A Google Translation into English is also available. #next#

CSS first-letter bug Bill Innanen points out a peculiar bug in Safari's CSS rendering system, where the following code:

results in showing the second letter of the header is enlarged and is used in place of the first. Thus Heading becomes "Eeading" with the first "E" 150 percent larger than the other letters.

GoLive recognition Safari (like Chimera) fails to be recognized as a viable preview Web browser in Adobe GoLive 6. Richard Spensley writes:

"I have noticed a problem common to both Safari and Chimera, which is either a problem with both the browsers or a problem with Adobe GoLive 6 but I am unable to add either of them to the list of browsers used by GoLive for previewing web pages, either when trying to add them manually or when GL searches the HD for all installed browsers."

We had similar results on our in-house systems.

Keyboard shortcut access If you have Safari installed in the default Application folder, you can follow this link (otherwise change the path to your installation location): file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Shortcuts.html to view a list of keyboard shortcuts for the browser, including a command to instantly access bookmarks (by number) via a keystroke.
