"Ejected" SmartMedia card a source of system crashes? R. Murray writes: "I have a Microtech SmartCard Reader that I use to read Olympus SmartMedia cards. I used it one week ago, ejected the card from the desktop but left the card in the Reader. Starting yesterday, I began having startup problems and system crashes while my USB hub was plugged in. The cause turned out to be the ejected card. Removing the card completely solved the problem." Update: As I believe we have mentioned before, it is generally recommended to copy data from a SmartMedia card to your hard drive before working with it. Update: Nick Romano adds: "I have just connected a Microtech card reader to a G4 450. I can not startup from the Mac OS CD unless I unplug the reader. The startup process stalls right out of the gate. Unplugging the device allows the startup to proceed." Reader success with iMac G3 upgrade Gary Franklin is happy with his upgraded revision A iMac: After adding a 128MB RAM upgrade, he purchased Newer's 466MHz G3 upgrade card. he writes: "The installation was a snap, about 25 minutes, and now this little rev A really smokes! Figuratively speaking of course."
