New and Noteworthy: Apple's Rosetta meets Geekbench challenge; Apple's Intel Mac mini introduction video available
Apple's Rosetta meets Geekbench challenge InfoWorld reports that independent developers running benchmark tests of Rosetta have impressed the developers of Geekbench Preview 2 for Rosetta. "The developers have run tests on a 2GHz iMac Core Duo, and confess to being "impressed" by the results. 'I'm impressed with Rosetta; Geekbench performance running under Rosetta is 40 percent to 80 percent of what it is running natively. Plus, running Geekbench under Rosetta is comparable to running Geekbench natively on a Power Mac G5 1.6GHz (our baseline system), at least in the single-threaded tests,' the developers state. 'Overall, I don't think Rosetta performance will be a concern for almost anyone with an Intel-based Mac,' they conclude." More.
