Multi-deal Monday: Wireless laser printer, big hard drive, and more!

Looks like Monday is the new Black (Friday).

Today starts the Cheapskate's busy season, the time of year when the deals start coming faster and furious-er. Already I'm getting inundated with Black Friday ad "leaks," pre-Black Friday sales alerts and pretty much every "Black"-sale permutation you can imagine.

Meh. I've said it a million times: Every day is Black Friday. If you need proof, look no further than today's roundup of doorbuster-caliber deals:

Big, big drive

Not many people need four terabytes of desktop storage, but if you edit a lot of HD video or record a lot of TV shows (DVR-style), you really can't have too much space.

For a limited time, Newegg (via eBay) has the Samsung D3 Station 4TB external hard drive for $99.99, shipped. That's $40 off the regular price and a pretty amazing price on four terabytes.

Head over to Newegg proper, though, and you'll see that the reviews for this drive are mixed. That seems to be true for most hard drives these days, which is in no way a defense of this model -- just more of a sad truth about the state of modern mechanical drives. The good news is it comes with a three-year warranty, which is better than most.

Small, small laser printer

I'm a fan of Brother's little laser printers; I've had the same one on my desk for a good six years, and it's never given me a lick of trouble.

Today only, and while supplies last, Amazon has the refurbished Brother EHL-2270DW wireless laser printer for $59.99, shipped. Never mind that it's a refurb: it comes with the same one-year warranty as new Brothers. Amen, Brother!

A dead ringer for my model, the EHL2270 is fast and extremely compact, and it supports duplex (i.e. double-sided) printing! Alas, it doesn't support AirPrint or Google Cloud Print, but you can accomplish much the same thing via something called Cortado Workplace.

User reviews on this model, at Amazon and everywhere else, are overwhelmingly positive.

If 60 bucks is outside your budget, Staples has the Dell 1160W wireless monochrome laser for $39.99, shipped (plus tax). It's even more compact, but a bit less versatile overall -- and user reviews aren't quite as enthusiastic. Still...$40!

Sweet, sweet movie

For my money, there was no better movie in 2013 than "Gravity." Of course, it all but demands to be seen in 3D. If you've got the right gear at home, Amazon has the right deal on the movie: "Gravity" Blu-ray 3D combo pack for $16.99 (shipped free with Prime, otherwise pad your cart to at least $35). "Best Buy also has it for that price, though more of you will be on the hook for sales tax.

This bundle includes not only the 3D version of the movie, but also the non-3D version on both Blu-ray and DVD. Plus you get a digital copy so you can watch it on your mobile devices, though you're really doing yourself a disservice if you watch it on a small screen.

Indeed, if you're lucky enough to have a 3D HDTV and 3D Blu-ray player, this is the showcase movie for it.

And that's it! Who's buying what today?
