Mixing bowl weighs in a contender

Combining a scale with a mixing bowl is a good way to get noticed on crowded kitchen shelves.

Is it a mixing bowl? Is it a kitchen scale? Yes.

A large, durable mixing bowl is hard to not appreciate. It's perfect for so many things, from scrambling the morning eggs to whipping up batter for a decadent batch of brownies. So useful is the everyday kitchenware that it is hard to imagine asking any more utility from it. But that doesn't mean we can't.

Striving to become more than the sum of its parts, the Beurer Digital Mixing Bowl & Kitchen Scale offers an all-in-one solution to mixing and weighing needs. The overachieving bowl consists of a 2.5-liter mixing bowl along with a 5-kilogram capacity digital scale. Taking its capabilities one step further, the kitchen gadget can measure common ingredients (water, milk, oil, sugar, flour) by weight or volume. But, it should be noted that being of European design, it apparently doesn't know anything about ounces or pounds.

Competition to get noticed on the kitchen shelves can be fierce; it's easy for a kitchen helper to get lost among all the accessories and appliances. To get noticed, sometimes it is important to go the distance. If that means adding an easy-to-read LCD screen, a tare function, and an automatic switch-off to an otherwise unremarkable body, then this eager bowl might just have a fighting chance.
