IceView USB hub shut down problem: XLR8 offers explanation and solution
Recently, we covered an IceView USB hub shut-down problem. A very informative thread on XLR8's message boards offers this explanation from XLR8 Technical Support:
The basic conflict extends from what has been discovered to be the way the hub and the Mac "communicate." The hub, for now, sends a signal to the Mac leading it to "think" it is powered even when it is not. Now that we have isolated this, we shall implement a fix immediately.
The ultimate solution will be a revision 2 Hub, which is now in development. In the meantime, a work-around is to use a power adapter that XLR8 will send you at no charge if you don't already have one. Some users found that simply connecting the Hub to the keyboard plug also eliminated the symptom. (Thanks, Robert DeBenedictis.)
