HP USB printer driver update addresses problems
HP USBPrintDriver is for users who have added USB connectivity to their PowerBook or Beige G3, and received the message "The software needed to use the USB device " DeskJet 8xxC cannot be found..." It is for the following DeskJet Printers: DJ895 Cxi/Cse, DJ880/882, DJ830/832, DJ810/812/815.
HP does not indicate that the update fixes the problems mentioned in a recent MacFixIt item although it does seem to address the driver installation problem mentioned earlier. In this regard, Kent Ringler found that he could get the original installer for the HP812C (connected to a G3 Mac via a third party USB card) to work by installing the software on a Mac running Mac OS 8.5 and then copying the driver to his drive running Mac OS 8.6.
