This 8GB Centon DataStick Pro for $8 is hard to beat.
This 8GB Centon DataStick Pro for $8 is hard to beat. Walmart

Happy new year! Let's start 2011 with a big deal on something small.

Walmart has an 8GB Centon DataStick Pro flash drive for $7.84. Shipping adds just 97 cents, though you can save that paltry charge with free site-to-store pickup. Either way, plan on a few pennies more--OK, quarters--for sales tax.

That's just about the lowest price I've seen for an 8GB drive. Usually they sell for around $15, with occasional dips to $10 to 12. Granted, we're only talking about a few bucks, here, but an all-time-low is an all-time-low.

Consequently, I fully expect this will sell out!

Update: And, sure enough, sold out. Sorry, newsletter subscribers! That's why I encourage visiting the site directly in the morning.

And there's more: Walmart also has a two-pack bundle of Centon 8GB flash drives for just $14 (plus sales tax, natch). Shipping adds $1.94, so you're saving about two bucks over buying them separately.

There's nothing too remarkable about the Centon drive. It's modeled in gray, has an aluminum housing, and comes with a two-year warranty. Alas, it doesn't appear to be keychain-friendly. It also sports a "lanyard/keychain connector" for easier portability.

As I've noted before, drives like this are great for things like rescuing a malware-infected PC. Eight bucks is pretty cheap for a failsafe you can keep in your pocket.

Like I said, this is almost certain to sell out, so if you like cheap storage as much as I do, grab this quick.

Bonus deal: Canon has a refurbished Pixma MX340 wireless all-in-one printer for $39.99 shipped. It's not only a printer, scanner, and sheet-fed copier, but also a fax machine. Nice!
