Get a refurbished Logitech Harmony 650 remote for $29.99

It's refurbished, but it comes with a one-year warranty and controls up to five home-theater devices. Great deal on a great remote!

This is an update of a post from way back in January.

Tired of juggling two, three, even five remotes? There's salvation to be found in the form of Logitech's Harmony series of universal clickers, which not only take the place of multiple 'remotes but also let you set up crazy-handy macro functions.

One of the color-LCD models, the 650, usually sells for around $80. But if you don't mind going the refurbished route, you can get one for a lot less. While supplies last, TigerDirect has open-box Logitech Harmony 650 remotes for $29.99 shipped. That's after applying coupon code JBM66940 at checkout.

Update: The link is now showing "only available in store," meaning TigerDirect has sold out online. Not a huge surprise, but sorry if you weren't able to grab the deal.

In case you're not familiar with the Harmony line, Logitech's famed wizard-driven setup software makes them easier to program than most.(Note that I didn't say "easy," but rather "easier." Some aspects can be confusing.)

You simply choose your gear (TV, receiver, DVR, Blu-ray player) from a mammoth database, configure any one-button actions you want ("turn on TV, switch to input 4, turn on Xbox,"), and presto: you're good to go. The Harmony is also blissfully easy to use, with guided onscreen help in case something didn't turn on or switch modes or something.

The Harmony 650 features a color LCD, backlit controls, and support for up to five devices. Alas, it's not rechargeable, so you'll have to swap in a pair of AA batteries every couple months (though you can always use rechargeable batteries, of course).

The user reviews on this model average 4.4 stars out of 5. It's a popular model, and with good reason.

The last time I wrote about this model, it came with only a 90-day warranty. This time you get a full year courtesy of Logitech.

On a personal note, I've had the same Harmony One (the Rolls-Royce of the series) for about four years, and it's humming along just fine. If you're still juggling multiple remotes, I think you'll find this is $30 very well spent.

Bonus deal: Today only, and while supplies last, Woot Sellout has the Kodak Z5120 16-megapixel camera for $129.99, plus $5 for shipping. It sells elsewhere for around $200. The Z5120 has an SLR-style body (though no interchangeable lenses), a 26x optical zoom(!), optical image stabilization, and a couple glowing user reviews over at Amazon.
