That's your after-rebate price for this tiny swivel-cap drive, but still. Nine bucks!

Newegg

I know a lot of people don't care for rebates, but if you shift your perception a bit, they can seem like icing on the cake.

For example, Newegg has the Patriot PSF32GAUSB 32GB USB flash drive for $18.99 shipped. Right from the get-go, that's a great deal.

And here's the icing: a $10 mail-in rebate (PDF) brings your total cost down to $8.99, which is an unheard-of price for a 32GB drive. Heck, even a 16GB drive is a find at that price.

That rebate comes in the form of an American Express prepaid reward card, which is as good as cash. One nice perk: You can complete and submit your rebate form online. (Note: There's still some paperwork to print and mail.)

I'm curious to see if this will sell out as quickly as rebate-free flash drives usually do. Knowing my luck, it'll be gone by the time you finish reading this sentence.

This tiny swivel-cap drive works anywhere USB 2.0 storage does. It's red, black, and shiny all over, with a two-year Patriot warranty.

Newegg's user reviews are mostly of the four- and five-star variety, but caveat emptor: a handful of customers ran into technical problems with the drive.

Will those sobering stories dissuade you from pouncing on this deal? Or are you willing to try your luck for that paltry nine bucks?

Bonus deal: Calling all Skype fans! LivingSocial is offering a $20 Skype credit for $10. (Never mind that it's an Australia-based deal; the credit is in U.S. dollars.) That's an unbeatable offer for anyone who regularly uses the service to call landlines and/or cell phones. New to LivingSocial? You'll need to sign up for a free account first. (That's my referral link, FYI.)

Bonus deal No. 2: Looking to snag a Windows 8 laptop on the cheap? Newegg has the Gateway NE51B14u 15.6-inch Windows 8 laptop for $299.99 shipped. Specs include a dual-core AMD processor, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and, for better or worse, Windows 8 64-bit. The system weighs 5.5 pounds. Not too shabby!
