Get a 32-inch Philips HDTV for $269

Also on tap today: 3 bucks' worth of free tunes from Amazon, and showtimes for my appearance on CNET's Holiday Help Desk.

Target is selling this 32-inch Philips HDTV for about $60 less than other stores--but only for a limited time.
Target is selling this 32-inch Philips HDTV for about $60 less than other stores--but only for a limited time.

'Tis the season for awesome deals on TVs. And Target has one you can actually go to the store and get, rather than waiting for the UPS man to arrive (which, according to the product page, could take two to four weeks--yikes!).

Update: I goofed! While you can pick this up in Target stores, you can't use the coupon code--meaning your price would be $299, not $269.

The deal: a Philips 32PFL3505D/F7 32-inch LCD HDTV for $269 shipped. That's after applying coupon code UZXPI33P, and not including sales tax in some states.

The 32PFL...32PFL3...the Philips features a 1,366x768-pixel native resolution (or 720p, proper for a set of this size), a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, a 5ms response time, and a pair of front-panel speakers. (I mention that because a lot of low-cost TVs use down- or rear-facing speakers, which tend to sound terrible.)

It's also nicely stocked with inputs, including three HDMI, one component video, one composite video, one PC, and even one USB. Philips also provides the obligatory ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner.

CNET hasn't reviewed this particular model, but the smattering of user reviews on Target's site are very enthusiastic. An even larger smattering at Amazon (where the TV sells for $337) reveals similarly high praise.

So if you're looking for a well-regarded, well-appointed 32-incher for the den, bedroom, or wherever, this is one of the best deals I've seen.

Bonus deal: Could you use 3 bucks' worth of free Amazon MP3 tunes? Of course you could! Just click that link, then the Enter Your Code button, and use code GET3MP3S. The credit is good for whatever MP3s you want; I highly recommend these Brendan Benson tracks: "Feel Like Taking You Home," "Spit It Out," and "A Whole Lot Better."

Bonus deal No. 2: OK, this isn't really a deal, more like an opportunity to see me live and "in person." Starting today, and for the next four Mondays, I'll be appearing on CNET's Holiday Help Desk to discuss--what else--sweet deals! Check it out at 1 p.m. PT.
