The Vizio M220NV is one of those Internet-connected TVs you've been hearing about. If you're willing to go the refurb route, you can save a small fortune.
The Vizio M220NV 22-inch TV has a list price of $359.99. Shop around and you'll find it selling in the $279 range--still too rich for my blood.
Today, Mwave has the refurbished Vizio M220NV LED TV with Wi-Fi for $174.99, plus $4.99 for shipping. That's not only less than other 22-inch models I've mentioned before, but also the only sub-$200 TV I've ever seen that has apps!
Update: Ugh. This is frustrating. Barely an hour after I posted this, it's now showing as "temporarily unavailable." I'm hoping that means more stock will be released later in the day. Keep checking the link--you might get lucky!
Update #2: Back in stock as of 12:35 p.m. ET! But now showing a price tag of $179.99. Still good.
That's right: this baby comes stocked with Vizio Internet Apps, which includes everything from Facebook and Twitter to Netflix and Pandora--all streamed courtesy of the M220NV's 802.11n Wi-Fi (or Ethernet if you prefer).
Consequently, I suspect this will sell out quickly. If you're new around here, please understand that I have no control over this--and that the TVs were in stock as of 8 a.m. ET (when I ordered one for myself--don't tell the missus!). There's no bait-and-switch going on here or anything like that.
The M220NV is one of Vizio's Razor models, featuring an LED-backlit LCD, full 1080p resolution, and a depth of just 2.1 inches (not including the stand).
CNET hasn't reviewed this particular model, but the user reviews on both Mwave and Amazon are pretty solid (four stars out of five on average). The main complaint was with the sound, which is almost always an issue in TVs of this size. (If you happen to own this model, let me know your thoughts on its audio quality.)
Despite the 90-day warranty, I think this is a killer TV for the den, dorm room, bedroom, and other small areas. The built-in apps are icing an already yummy cake.
Bonus deal: Looking for something a little bigger? Today's Woot deal is for a new 42-inch Westinghouse LED HDTV for $489.99, plus $5 for shipping. No Internet, but a pretty generous screen for under 500 bucks. Today only, of course.
