Dell unveils M1330 and colourful Inspirons

Dell has announced its new range of PCs today -- including a new range of colourful Inspirons and the flagship M1330 -- as well as formally acknowledged that it will sell its products at retail in the near future.

Inspiron
The new Inspiron range comes in a choice of eight different colours.

Dell has announced its new range of PCs today -- including a new range of colourful Inspirons and the flagship M1330 -- as well as formally acknowledged that it will start selling its range in retail outlets in the near future.

The Inspirons come in the 14-inch 1420, 15-inch 1520 and 17-inch 1720 models, and prices start at AU$1,499 for the Inspiron 1420. The three notebooks come in a choice of eight different colours, including black and white. But these aren't simply clip-on panels, like in the past, but bolted on at the Dell factory in Malaysia.

M1330

The 13.3-inch Dell XPS M1330 boasts an HDMI port and a slot-loading DVD drive.

The new hero product is the XPS M1330 which, according to Dell, is the slimmest 13.3-inch notebook in the world. At 1.78 kg it boasts several new features including HDMI output, a slot-loading DVD drive and a brushed aluminium palm rest. Optional extras include LED backlighting, fingerprint sensor, and a Blu-ray reader. The M1330 will be available from 10 July, and prices start at $1,799. The model it replaces, the M1210, will still be available for the immediate future -- likely until current stocks run out.

The company also unveiled a line of new desktops which include the Dell Inspiron 530 and 530s (slim), and the Dell Inspiron 531S, and join the company's line of XPS gaming desktops.

Dell representatives at the launch were unable to confirm which retail stores the Dell PCs would be available from, but added that they were "evaluating their strategy". More news in coming months.
