Apple to stream 'Back to the Mac' event live

Apple to stream today's Back to the Mac event live from its Web site. The video should be viewable on any Mac with Safari as well as iOS 3.0 devices or iPads.

Update: The event is now over, but the video can still be replayed from Apple's event page.

Today at 10 a.m. Apple will be hosting a presentation on the company's next efforts for the Mac OS as well as upcoming and future models of the Macintosh. This morning a number of media outlets are receiving word from Apple that the event will be streamed live from Apple's Web site.

CNET will be covering the event on our live blog, and currently there is no link on the Apple Web site for the media event, but the announcement by Apple mentions the event will be available using Apple's HTTP-streaming technologies that are based on open standards.

The event should be viewable on any Mac running Safari Web browser, as well as an iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 3.0 or greater, or an iPad. The event will begin at 10 a.m. PDT and will be streamed from the following page:

October 20 Back to the Mac Event
(The event is now over, but the video can be replayed from the event page.)

If you do not have access to an Apple device that meets these requirements, or otherwise cannot view the stream, be sure to check out CNET's live blog.
