If you're a phone-maker, "better luck next time" isn't a phrase you want to hear attached to anything you make, but it's a pretty good description for the Alcatel OneTouch Evolve , which came out for T-Mobile in 2013.

Alcatel has a second shot with sequels of both, the entry-level OneTouch Evolve 2, available from T-Mo on September 10.

The Evolve 2 is still a basic handset, with Android 4.4 KitKat, a 4-inch 800x480-pixel display, a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, and 4GB of storage that also expands up to 32GB. T-Mobile and Alcatel are counting on the phones' competitive prices to draw in customers.

T-Mobile's Evolve 2 will set you back $3.30 per month over 24 months, with $0 down.
