Meet the Fierce 2 and Evolve 2

T-Mobile has signed up for a second pass at the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce 2 and Evolve 2, both budget Android 4.4 KitKat phones that trade off hardware prowess for a low-cost off-contract price.

Screen size

The larger, more powerful Fierce 2 (right) has a 5-inch screen, versus the Evolve 2's 4-inch display.

To flash or not to flash

While both phones have a 5-megapixel camera on the back (and 0.3-megapixel cameras on the front), the more basic Evolve 2 lacks a flash.

How do they feel?

Both phones' less expensive, plastic construction is apparent when you wield them, and the phones are slow to respond to touch. Still, the Alcatel skin over Android navigates like any other Android phone, and for $126 and $80 respectively, these contract-free phones are more about value than wowing you.

Be sure to check out hands-on impressions in our OneTouch Fierce 2 and Evolve 2 preview.
