Utilities Updates: MacLinkPlus 13; Ptah; Rosetta; more

DataViz MacLinkPlus 13 is the latest version of this Mac/PC file translation program. This update has been optimized for OS X and includes support for the latest versions of Microsoft Word and Excel, as found in Office 2001 (Mac) and Office XP (Windows). See also this press release.

MacLinkPlus for AppleWorks A reader claims that this upgrade removes the MacLinkPlus for AppleWorks extension (which seems like the logical thing to do, as it is an older version). However, the result for this reader was that AppleWorks no longer saved files in Word format (a problem we have had even with the extension in place!), sometimes even causing a freeze. We continue to investigate this.

Ptah 1.2.3 is a shareware text and image and cataloging program. Ptah is fully carbonized. Ptah 1.2.3 is a maintenance release.

Rosetta 1.2.3 decodes files that have been encoded using the most common encoding methods (BinHex, MacBinary, MIME Base64, uuencode).

Return Receipt 1.1.1 returns a receipt to the sender of an email message. It works with Outlook Express and now with Entourage.

FirstClass client 6.011 is the client for the messaging, discussion groups, document sharing, conferences system.
