A quick update on our investigation into the PowerBook G4 15" (FireWire 800) issue (parts 1, 2, 3, 4):

-Several Apple technical support representatives are still telling MacFixIt readers that they are not aware of this issue. However, several representatives in Apple's retail stores seem to be addressing the problem and telling customers that they are not alone.

-PowerBook G4 15" (FireWire 800) units are trickling out of Apple, with some customers taking delivery today.

-Some representatives are telling customers that issues like this one (a defective screen) are covered under the standard Apple one-year warranty. However, some representatives are also telling customers that if they have had their new PowerBooks for more than 10 days, DOA (dead on arrival) replacement eligibility is revoked.
