Mac OS 9 and iMac/G3 CD Updates Apple TIL article #25057 describes why, after installing Mac OS 9, you may get an error message when trying to install the iMac or G3 CD Update 2.0: "The CD-ROM firmware updaters were created before Mac OS 9 existed. The installers are unaware of the Mac OS 9 environment and the message should be interpreted with this in mind. The firmware update should be applied, regardless of the Mac OS level. It is fine to continue."

Password glitch with Japanese Input Apple TIL article #25058 states: "Apple has identified an issue with the interaction of Password Security 2.0 and Kotoeri (Japanese Input Method) under Mac OS 8.6. To work around this issue, turn off Password Security when using the Japanese input method. This issue is resolved in Mac OS 9."

Apple Network Assistant 4: Important Information Apple TIL article #31131 warns of the security risks of installing the Network Assistant software: "Network Assistant lets you connect to workstations over the Internet using TCP/IP. Because Network Assistant may allow someone to gain access to your workstations from the Internet, you should change the Network Assistant password on all workstations to prevent unauthorized access to your workstations."
