Some users unable to purchase tracks from iTunes Music Store

CNET staff

A number of users have reported being unable to purchase tracks from the iTunes Music Store in recent days. In most cases, users receive the message:

"The iTunes Music Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."

One MacFixIt reader writes:

"There have been a number of uses, me included, who cannot make purchases on the iTunes Music Store. At first some thought this was related to PayPal, Apple has suspended using PayPal.

"But it doesn't seem to be a payment specific problem as many who also pay via credit card or other means cannot make purchases. Myself I was able to gift an album to myself when I couldn't make a purchase but the store thinks I already redeemed the gift certificate. And now I can't purchase music, like many others, and can't even download the free song of the week."
