Possible memory leak in Belkin's Bulldog Mac OS X software

CNET staff

Belkin's Bulldog program, which provides status reports and automated shutdown for their line of uninterruptible power supplies, appears to have a potential memory leak.

One MacFixIt reader writes:

"After a couple of days, the upsd daemon which runs in the background to handle communications starts sucking up ludicrous amounts of memory and slowing the system down (after four days, for example, it's up to about 40 percent in the process viewer and growing). Even worse, if you leave the USB cable to the UPS unplugged, upsd starts using more and more processor cycles until the system slows to a crawl. I had to disconnect the UPS for a while, and after two days upsd was using 80 percent of my CPU."

While we are awaiting a response from Belkin, please provide us with our experience/thoughts on this issue: late-breakers@macfixit.com.
