OSS 3D 2.0.x (#2): More unexpected application quits

OSS 3D 2.0.x (#2): More unexpected application quits

CNET staff

Users continue to report an issue where the presence of OSS 3D -- a tool used for real-time audio enhancement -- can cause unexpected quits in various applications, including the Finder.

One MacFixIt reader writes:

"I've been a big fan of OSS 3D since it was first released, but v2.0x has been a serious disappointment.  After upgrading to 2.0.1 yesterday, replacing the existing preferences when prompted during installation, and restarting, my Finder hung after boot and would not finish mounting local volumes.  No response from Dock, mouse clicks, etc.  Had to ssh in and manually kill the OSS processes, after which everything came right up. I love what OSS 3D does for my iTunes playback, but I have to say, wait a few versions before using this on a main machine."

Another reader adds:

"I'd loaded the new version of oss and it was worse than before. It caused everything to quit."

If you are experiencing inexplicable sudden application quits, and have OSS 3D installed, you may want to try uninstalling the software by navigating to the Applications/OSS 3D directory and launching the OSS 3D Uninstaller.

Also, make sure you are running the latest version of OSS 3D (2.0.1) available from VersionTracker.
