Endlessly bouncing icons Some readers report the problem with applications refusing to launch in OS X, after installing OS 9.2.2 (see previous item) - even if Classic is never launched. Dock icons keep bouncing and even a Force Quit typically fails. Some readers report the problem fixes itself after a restart.

Web page crashes Explorer Reid Nixon found that this web page [corrected URL] will cause Explorer to crash, at least in OS X. We can confirm this.

ToastPreview2 glitch? A posting in this MacFixIt Forums thread notes: "The Toast Preview2 for OS X includes the file, ToastVideoCDSupport.component in this path: /library/quicktime/ToastVideoCDSupport.component. For some reason, this file in that location will cause all AppleScript applications to crash with a kern protection error. Simply removing this file (I just moved it to the desktop) will allow AppleScripts to run normally."

Update: We now have numerous confirmations of this. Adrian Smith adds: "Scripts will run OK from within Script Editor but they fail if I try to run them from the Finder, the Script Menu, or Script Runner."

The Project Omega web site "focuses on giving help to people who want to learn how to program on, or how to get the best of the Mac OS X."

FAXstf due tomorrow? Smith Micro told a reader to expect FAXstf for OS X to ship tomorrow.

Two-tone Dock We have an occasional symptom where portions of the Dock background a light shade than the darker default shade. As reader Yuhui points out, this occurs when you overlay a window from a Classic application. When you then move the window again, the Dock is the lighter shade where the window had been. Overlaying an OS X application window gets the color to revert.
