We received this several days ago from HP, but somehow missed posting it. Here it is now:

OS X HP DeskJet Printer Software 1.2 is out (note: the release date on the web page says September 13, but it was actually released on November 2). This release includes a lot of fixes, improvements, expanded hardware support, and easier installation. It is recommended that all users install this update for best performance, as well as upgrade to OS X 10.1.

This driver is optimized for OS X 10.1 (also supports 10.0.4), has printing and spooling speed improvements, and supports the following USB printers: DeskJet 900-series printers, DeskJet 800-series with USB on the Printer, DeskJet 1125, DeskJet 1200-series as well as the 2 new high volume inkjet printers (HP CP1160 and 1700).

HP software changes Print Center privileges? Regarding this software, Zach Schneirov writes: "I was not able to select my DesktJet 842c printer from the Print Center application; I would receive an 'unknown error -108' after attempting to do so. I discovered that the problem was with the file permissions on files within the Print Center.app package; the HP DeskJet installer apparently changed them. Specifically, the settings for the files Print Center and PrintingReset in /Applications/Utilities/Print\ Center.app/Contents/MacOS had been modified. Viewed in Terminal, they should be <-rwxr-sr-x 1 root daemon> for Print Center and < -r-sr-xr-- 1 root daemon> for PrintingReset." Note: We have no other confirmations as yet that the HP software caused any change here.
