Scaling Back Mac Support?; iTunes Ratings

.Mac localization response We previously noted problems with .Mac's ability to handle certain languagues. Stefan Schulze now reports receiving an e-mail response from Apple's support departmnet:

"The .Mac services have been tested and optimized for use with the English and Japanese languages. Although you are free to use the language of your choice, results in anything other than the tested languages are not guaranteed. If you would like to suggest that more languages be supported, please direct your comments to the .Mac Feedback Page."

Adaptec scaling back Mac support? Jim Olsen says he received some disappointing news from Adaptec.

"After speaking on the phone with Adapatec, it appears they have basically stopped all Mac development. They have one engineer left doing Mac stuff part time and that's it. So if you want your drivers for OS 9 (deep Sleep still doesn't work) or OS X fixed or support for U320, please let them know."

UPDATE: Adaptec Director of Public Relations sent the following note to MacFixIt:

"Adaptec has a long heritage of supporting a broad range of platforms, including Macintosh, and we will continue to do so in response to customer demand."

iTunes ratings Carl Jonard reports some problems retaining ratings in iTunes when moving files:

"I recently assigned ratings to all my songs in iTunes 3, and now I want to move them to another hard drive. When I do this and re-add them to my Library, all of my ratings are lost."
