Installing a Pioneer DVR 105 drive Graham Needham has posted instructions for installing Pioneer's internal DVR 105 DVD recorder in a Power Macintosh G4.

This procedure should work with any standard Apple Power Macintosh G4, the original Power Macintosh G3 Blue and White and a similar process may even work for the Power Macintosh G4 Mirror Door models. All you will need for the procedure is a Phillips head screwdriver.

Snitch will not catch Classic apps We previously reported on the use of a small shareware application called Little Snitch that will catch applications trying to access the Internet, and can stop them in their tracks.

This utility is useful for those who want to block applications that "phone home" for authorization, or otherwise connect in the background without explicitly notifying the user.

We have since learned that Little Snitch will not catch Classic applications that are trying to access the Internet. One MacFixIt reader writes:

"I was quite pleased at having found what at first seemed to be a very useful program until I realized it did not tell me about any Classic applications that were accessing the Internet. I tried several when I realized what was going on. The most telling was when I ran AppleWorks. In OS X Snitch jumped right and warned me that AppleWorks was accessing the internet. Then in OS 9.2.2 it didn't notice a thing. AppleWorks downloaded all it wanted with nary a peep from Snitch."
