Odds and Ends: HP PSC 700 driver installation solution; Mac OS X 10.3.x: Unable to delete large file with journaling on
HP PSC 700 driver installation Mollie Steinke ran into some problems installing the latest HP PSC 700 series driver under Mac OS X 10.3.x and found that the new driver won't install correctly unless you uninstall the old driver first. The following solution worked in her case:
- Go to the HP all-in-one folder inside Applications;
- Run the uninstall program and uninstall your printer;
- Unplug the printer from the USB port;
- Restart the computer;
- After it finishes booting up, plug in the printer again;
- Install the new driver
Mac OS X 10.3.x: Unable to delete large file with journaling on We are seeking more information on a limited-spread problem where the presence of journaling on a Mac OS X 10.3.x system disallows deletion of large files. One reader writes
"I think there is a bug in the journaling subsystem. It is not consistent, I have seen it panic on 3 of 6 large files. Manual attempt to trash or the terminal command "rm" as a normal user would just make the machine "freeze"/panic with no usable error message. Single user startup showed the error message from 'jnl.'"
"Disable journaling allowed removal of the fles."
