Ebay breaks Explorer auction tracker A reader reports that recent changes to Ebay's site have broken the auction tracker features in Internet Explorer.

Airport range and TiBook 667 vs DVI Glenn McGee writes: "Tests in my home with both old and new base stations confirm 20%-30% better reception with DVI PowerBook G4 - and 10-15% better throughput."

Treo 90 can work with OS X Frank Beacham writes: "Handspring has claimed the Treo 90 will not work with either Palm Desktop 4.0 or OS X. However, I found that Missing Sync 3.0 allows the Handspring Treo 90 to work successfully with Palm Desktop 4.0 on Mac OS X 10.1.5." Officially, Mark/Space, publishers of Missing Sync, do not yet support this configuration. However, another reader confirms it does appear to work fine. Rodrigo Izurieta adds: "I have sync'd Quicken transactions (Pocket Quicken), Entourage addresses, calendar items, to do lists (QueueSync), installed many games and applications, etc. I only experienced problems when Classic was loaded and with the conduit for WordSmith that came in the Handspring CD."

Kernel Panic when deleting big files with Norton SystemWorks 2.0? We have heard several isolated reports similar to this one before, although we have yet to pin down all the facts. It appears that deleting large files (perhaps as large as 700 MB) while Norton FileSaver is enabled will cause a kernel panic. This issue may be limited to SystemWorks.

Update: Mike Lane writes: "I can confirm the kernel panic when deleting large files with Norton SystemWorks 2.0 under 10.1.4 and .5. I removed the DTDaemon file from Library/Application Support/Norton Solutions Support/Norton Utilities/ several weeks ago, and have not seen a kernel panic since. We have reported this before.

Update: James Hodge adds: "If you do not have enough free space to store a hidden recoverable copy of a deleted file, or if the deleted file is highly fragmented, Norton's will cause a kernel panic upon emptying the trash. Disabling the Norton TrackDelete software (in /Library/StartupItems) will cure the problem." See also previous related items one and two.

Menu Bar CPU Monitor sleep glitch? Kevin Patfield writes: "Menu Bar CPU Monitor prevents the system from entering deep sleep. In my case the problem shows up on a 400 MHz Sawtooth running OS X 10.1.5."

FAA Web site fixes Mac IE rendering problem Rick Cohen reports that the FAA's Web site, specifically the page containing notices to airmen (NOTAMs), now is readable under MSIE 5.01.
