The New York Timesgives Mac OS 8.5 a big thumbs up. It calls the latest version of the Mac OS "better than ever." The Times also says 8.5 is "easier to use, more elegant, more innovative and more reliable than Windows 98."

Global Village returns again Earlier this week, I received a reminder from David Anderson (of Global Village) that their "on again off again" Web site is now definitely on again. However, he asks "if your readers find any broken links (not likely as I am currently testing them all) have them drop me an email telling me the URL for page they were on and the name of the link."

Conflict Catcher 8.03 should be out any day now.

Norton Disk Doctor tip Does Norton Disk Doctor report fixing a problem, only to report the same problem again the next time to run it? If so, try running Norton Disk Doctor after booting from the CD or floppy disk (rather than from your hard drive) and then making the repair. This won't work in all cases, but it's a good start. In any case, Symantec asserts that if NDD is reporting a problem, there is a problem - even if other repair software fails to indicate anything is wrong.

Netscape Communicator and QuicKeys Irwin Mortman writes: "If QuicKeys is stored under the Apple menu, the contextual menu will not show when Communicator 4.5 is active. However, the macros still work. CE Software is aware of the issue."
