WWDC report A MacWEEK report from the WWDC covers a look at Apple's future hardware, including a 400MHz G3.

PowerBook G3 series Developer Note Apple has posted a Developer Note covering technical details of its new PowerBook G3 series. Among its items of interest: "The 12.1" screen supports thousands of colors, but the larger screens support millions of colors."

Microsoft says "No cookies, no tech support" On Monday, I posted a link to a tech support document on Microsoft's web site. Several readers complained that Microsoft blocked access to the document (or any other tech support document for that matter) unless they allowed cookies to be accepted.

QuickTime download problem? Several readers report that when they try to download QuickTime 3.0 from Apple's web page, they get an error message that says "No such file or directory exists." It seems to only happen with certain versions of Netscape browsers.

Pogue on Windows Speaking of Macworld, David Pogue's latest column describes his experiences with setting up and using a new Windows PC. I recently went through the same process and had almost an identical reaction. My take (as you might expect) had a bit more of a troubleshooting emphasis: Basically, when things are working well, I found Windows to be pretty decent. But when I had any trouble, the superiority of the Mac was crystal clear. I thought about writing this up as a posting for MacFixIt. David saved me the trouble; you can just read his column instead.
