Bluenote update allows more devices to work with card James Rodriguez writes: "Initio has just released a new beta update to the ROM on their Miles Bluenote SCSI Card. Tech Support says this is supposed to update the card to allow for devices that don't comply with Apple's revised SCSI Manager, including my Umax Astra1200S scanner."

Adrenaline Charts Pro 1.0.4, which allows the creation of shaded 2D/3D charts, has been released. The 1.0.4 Updater fixes some problems related to PICT export at high-resolution. In some cases the file was corrupted and could not be read by other applications.

MacInTax manual update Intuit has now posted a manual download for MacInTax 1998 - as an alternative to the one-click update feature built into MacInTax.

Multiscan 15 repair: a follow-up According to Nicholas Young, if you think you have the problem with tint/loss of color on Apple's 15" Multiscan monitor (see previous item), you may still be able to get Apple to pay for the repair. Just take it to your Apple Service Provider and ask.

MatchBox FireWire PC card coming? The PowerBook Zone reports on rumors of an Apple FireWire PC Card, code-named MatchBox, that will work with the current G3 PowerBooks. It is still in the alpha stage of development.

Java security hole reported A security hole has been discovered in Java 2 (and JDK 1.1.x). "The flaw allows an attacker to create a booby-trapped Web page, so that when a victim views the page, the attacker seizes control of the victim's machine and can do whatever he wants, including reading and deleting files, and snooping on any data and activities on the victim's machine."
