Nintendo Switch rumored to have a 6.2-inch touchscreen, be USB-C compatible
Rumored details of the new console's specs are starting to surface, a few months ahead of Nintendo's upcoming Switch presentation in January.
Nintendo officially unveiled its newest console, the Nintendo Switch, on October 20, but there are still a lot of unknowns. And in the absence of official word, many rumors have surfaced about its specs.
According to Eurogamer, the portable console will have a 6.2-inch screen. That's a slightly bigger screen than the Huawei Mate 8 (6-inch) but smaller than an iPad Mini 4 (7.9-inch).
Switch's rumored resolution is 720p. That's a low resolution even by small-screen standards, to be sure, but that number shouldn't indicate the resolution the console will support when connected to your TV.
It was also hinted that the Switch will have touchscreen capabilities, a question that many people pondered after its debut trailer. A touchscreen wouldn't be uncommon for a Nintendo device, as both the 3DS and the Wii U incorporate touchscreen aspects. However, Eurogamer says the Switch's will be different. The 3Ds and Wii U both use resistive touchscreens and thus can only pick up one pressure point at a time. The Switch is rumored to have a 10-point multitouch screen, similar to your average smartphone.
A couple other rumors surfaced from Let's Play Video Games, which says the Switch might use USB-C charging and be compatible with microSDs. Nintendo announced it will be hosting a Nintendo Switch presentation on January 13, where it'll hopefully clear some of these rumors up and deliver heaps more info on the new console.
Nintendo did not immediately respond to CNET's request for comment.
