Xbox to switch to PowerPC Wired News reports that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox will ditch its Intel chip in favor of the same kind of chip used in Apple's Macs -- an IBM PowerPC processor. "Microsoft has licensed leading-edge semiconductor processor technology from IBM for use in future Xbox products and services to be announced at a later date," the statement said. More.

Yahoo changes to keep pace with Google Yahoo altered its home page this weekend to showcase specialized search features, a bid to drive traffic to the new tools and recapture ground from rival Google. CNET reports "Yahoo added tabs for searches related to Images, Yellow Pages and Products. These appear alongside a Web search tab, which is how the portal now labels its standard search field. The design change mirrors the file-folder look of competitors including Google and helps get Web surfers started on targeted searches immediately, instead of forcing them to delve into the site."
