Kensington offers Wi-Fi detector While several shareware offerings perform the same task, Kensington has debuted the first hardware device (that we know of) capable of automatically sensing Wi-Fi hot-spots, and indicating the signal level. This can save you needless portable boots and wake-ups. Like a car radar detector, the device detects 802.11b and 802.11g signals from up to 200 feet away and filters out other wireless signals, including cordless phones, microwave ovens and Bluetooth networks. Apple earns A in PC Mag survery Excluded from last year's list due to a low number of responses, Apple has earned top marks in PC Magazine's vendor survey. "We constantly receive complaints from our readers about major hardware vendors, but over the past several months, there's been an unusual increase. In particular, we've seen a rise in criticism of the products and customer support of Dell, the world's most successful PC manufacturer. We are therefore somewhat surprised to find that service and reliability have actually improved slightly this year. Once again, Dell is a top vendor in the survey's desktop category, tied with Apple in receiving an A ." More.
