" According to Yankee Group senior analyst Mike Goodman, Apple's reshuffling of divisions indicates the company could be forging an entertainment division. In addition, the change may improve Apple's control over supply-chain issues as the iPod Mini goes international." More.

Apple's security measures scrutinized The LA Times has a piece criticizing Apple's handling of the recent flurry of potential security flaws (yet to do any tangible, significant damage): " Enthusiastic Macintosh owners brag that the digital plagues of worms, viruses and Trojan horses so common to Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system rarely visit their sleek machines. It may be, though, that Apple doesn't fall too far from the PC. Three times this month, Apple Computer Inc. has been accused of failing to warn Mac owners of serious flaws in their software." More.

Mac BU taking cues from Windows Office development team? David Pogue, writing for the New York Times, says that Microsoft's Mac BU may have taken a page from the Windows Office team's playbook by releasing an upgrade that focuses on nips and tucks rather than major new features. "Last year, Office 2003 for Windows revealed the company's latest strategy: Add very, very little, and hope that people upgrade anyway. [...] After years of seeing its own good ideas adopted by the Office for Windows team, Microsoft's Mac designers apparently decided that two could play that game." More.
