European iTunes Music Store lacking independents A Media Guardian (UK) article covers some of the issues preventing independent music labels from signing on to the new European version of the iTunes Music Store: "The labels have accused Apple of misusing its position as the dominant online music provider to squeeze unacceptable terms from smaller record labels." The Mac Observer has similarly reported that the reason independents won't be represented on the Store was a disagreement over contract length: "The sticking point in negotiations with Apple was the length of the agreement and [the Association of Indepent Music's] insistence that their [sic] be a review of royalty fees every six to twelve months."
