I learned a lesson last week: BlackBerry PlayBook owners are a passionate bunch! My mere suggestion that the tablet was not long for the world (along with a couple forehead-smacking factual errors) elicited a response that I can only describe as fanboy-esque.

Even a RIM rep reached out to insist, "RIM remains committed to the BlackBerry PlayBook." Time will tell, of course, but I'm glad to see the product has such a vocal fan-base. I'm going to see if I can get some hands-on time with a PlayBook so I'm better informed about it next time there's a deal.

In the meantime, let's look at a couple other tantalizing tablet deals, along with a few extra goodies to kick off the week:

1. Last week, Amazon offered a refurbished Kindle Fire for $179, but this is arguably even better: Wal-Mart has the Kindle Fire and a $50 Wal-Mart gift card for $199, plus sales tax. The only catch: you have to visit your local Wal-Mart store to get it; the deal isn't available online.

2. Looking for something a little bigger? Today only, and while supplies last, 1SaleADay has the refurbished Toshiba Thrive 10-inch Android tablet for $259.99, plus $4.99 for shipping. Specs include 16GB of storage, Android 3.1, dual cameras, Bluetooth, and GPS. Check out CNET's review of the Thrive if you want to learn more.

3. Speaker dock or Bluetooth speaker? Here's the best of both worlds: Amazon has the Panasonic SC-HC55 compact stereo system for $117.49 shipped. List price: $179.99. The SC-HC55 can dock/charge/play your iPhone or iPod Touch, but it also supports wireless music streaming via Bluetooth. Plus, it has this cool door that slides open with a wave of your hand. And did I mention it's also a CD player and AM/FM radio? The user reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

4. Cheap-storage alert! Meritline has the ADATA C008 8GB USB flash drive for $6.95 shipped. That's after applying coupon code MLCK602PNL1 at checkout. (Note: Most Meritline codes expire after a certain number of uses, and there's no way to tell when that'll happen.) The drive has a slide-out connector and some intriguing onboard software (including a utility designed to migrate your Windows 7 installation DVD to the drive).
