MacFixIt reader Mike notes that regardless of what the intended sort order is, it can be easily demonstrated that the implementation is broken for file names with a numeric value greater than 999999. As this example shows:

  • 1000000
  • 1
  • 999999

Also string length is not a factor:

  • 1000000
  • 1
  • 0999999
  • 999999
