MacFixIt Forums switching to new software; Beta test preview now online

We will soon be switching from the current MacFixIt Forums software to an entirely new forums software. Don't worry! All existing threads will be retained.

A preview version of the new Forums software is now online: MacFixIt Forums BetaTest.

All the threads are Read Only except for those in the first board: Post Comments. You can use this board to post feedback regarding the forums: praise, complaints, bug reports and so forth.

By the way, the main reason we are moving to new Forums software is because we need to shift from the HTML-based software that we currently use (UBB) to one that stores all postings in a database. The new package (WWWThreads) meets this critical requirement.

Probably the biggest user-interface change in the new software is the ability to shift from viewing a thread in a flat view (similar to how the current Forums software works) to a threaded view. Experiment and let us know what you think.

Finally, if you register in the Beta Forums, your registration will be lost when we go live for real. However, all registration info in the current Forums will be carried over to the new Forums.
