Publishing errors when using iWeb are frequent for some users. The frustrating messages:

  • An error occurred while publishing file '/Web/Sites/Sites.rss'. Try publishing again later."
  • "Publish Error. Can't create the file "nameoffile.png." The disk may be damaged  or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."

and others have plagued all versions of the software, including the latest, 2.0.3. The publishing issues are especially prone to occur when posting to .Mac accounts.

We've covered a number of potential solutions for these error messages, including turning off "Allow Comments." Now MacFixIt reader Jon reports that simply shortening his .Mac account password has resulted in successful publishing. He writes:

"Turns out my .mac password was too long at 22 characters. Bringing it down to 16 fixed the long-standing problem of 'Could not publish to .mac.'"
