It's all fun and games until the ice cream is made

The Kickball Ice Cream Maker makes ice cream while you play with it. The ball has a soft rubber exterior and makes a batch of ice cream in about 20 minutes.

Nothing works up an appetite quite like running around outside on a hot summer day. Call that physical activity a game and not exercise and even kids will be on board. To seal the deal and give anyone and everyone motivation to work up a sweat, entice them with ball. No, not a soccer ball or a basketball. An ice cream ball.

After playing with it, the Kickball Ice Cream Maker ($34.95) opens up to reveal a frozen treat, made thanks to the efforts of the game players. About the size of a volleyball, the ice cream maker churns away as the ball is kicked and rolled about. The rubber exterior mimics a real ball, representing an upgrade from previous iterations on the concept, allowing for increased fun and games.

To use, ice cream makings are poured into one internal compartment, and ice and rock salt into another. As the ball is agitated, the cream and sugar turn into ice cream -- taking about 20 minutes of play. The device requires no energy, so it can be used at the park, while camping or even just in the back yard. If using at home, please remember to check the ice tray first, lest that trigger some non-ice cream- or kickball-related screaming.
