Intel-based Macs: Symantec releases Universal Binary of Norton AntiVirus

CNET staff

Symantec has released Universal Binary (Intel-based Mac compatible) version of Norton AntiVirus.

In a statement to MacFixIt, Symantec said:

"Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh, to now offer compatibility with the new Intel Core Duo chip-based Macintosh portables and desktops (Mac Book Pro and iMac). Users of the new Intel Core Duo machines need only to install Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh and then run the LiveUpdate feature within the product. That update will automatically install the patch required for compatibility with Appleâ??s newest line of high-speed processors. "

Symantec will be releasing patch compatibility updates for its enterprise antivirus product, Symantec AntiVirus for Macintosh, during the week of January 30.

The Universal Binary update is only available through Symantec's Live Update facility.
