We have to admit that ever since Verizon introduced its V Cast Mobile TV, all other cell phone videos services have looked positively ancient by comparison. But if you live outside of a V Cast Mobile TV city, or if you don't even have Verizon as your carrier, you'll have to stick with the tried-and-true 3G streaming video. And in an effort to keep things interesting, Sprint last week announced a new partnership with ABC Mobile. As part of the deal, Sprint will be the first carrier to offer on-demand full-length episodes of such ABC shows as Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Lost, and Ugly Betty. Up until now, only clips of the shows were available, but I have to say I'm not so sure the jerky video quality you get from EV-DO phones will lend itself to a whole program.
But in any case, Sprint will also carry full-length ABC News programs and ABC News Now, a streaming video channel showing breaking live news stories throughout the day. Future plans include full-length episodes of popular Disney Channel programming. You can get it on all Sprint Power Vision handsets that support the carrier's EV-DO network, such as the Samsung UpStage.
