Get an Epson all-in-one Wi-Fi printer for $69.99
It prints, it scans, and it copies, all without pesky cables. Of course, you can use a cable if you really want to: The NX515 supports USB and Ethernet.
First up, thanks for the amazing response to Friday's Cheapskate post. Many of you shared some terrific deals!
Second, I'm still grinning ear-to-ear over MSU's at-the-buzzer win over Maryland yesterday. That has nothing to do with today's deal; I simply can't contain my jubilation.
OK, back to business. I'll never again buy a printer that doesn't have Wi-Fi. I mean, cables? Really? This is the 21st century, people. I'd sooner go back to using dot-matrix printers.
Very often you have to pay a premium for a Wi-Fi-equipped printer, but not today: OfficeMax has the Epson Stylus NX515 multifunction inkjet printer for $69.99 (plus sales tax in most states) shipped. It's a printer, scanner, and copier in one.
It's a higher-end model than we usually see at this price point. For one thing, the NX515 is one of the fastest printers in its class. That's not just Epson's specs talking--read CNET's review--or watch the attached video--for full details.
Its other features include four individual ink tanks, a 2.5-inch color LCD, a scan-to-e-mail option, and support for manual two-sided printing; however, it doesn't have scan-to-flash-drive support.
Interestingly, CNET knocks the NX515 for lacking a "creative software suite," but the product page specifically mentions bonus software for creating "photo calendars and more." Maybe that's a new addition?
In any case, the NX515 had a list price of about $150. It currently sells direct from Epson and elsewhere for $129.99. So $69.99? Uh, yeah, pretty damn good.
I know, I know, a set of replacement ink cartridges will cost you nearly as much as the printer does. At least you get to replace each one on an as-needed basis. And because the NX515 rocks Wi-Fi, you can easily share it with multiple PCs.
