Get an Acer Iconia 10-inch tablet for $249 shipped

While supplies last! And if I know my tablets, they won't last long. Plus: return of the $129 Barnes & Noble Nook Color!

CBS Interactive

Good news, everyone! Starting today, the Cheapskate newsletter will be winging its way to your inbox right after my deal gets posted--not several hours later, at which time the daily deal is often expired or sold out.

That means I can tell you about stuff like Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack (PC/Mac) for $8.75, a sale that ends at noon ET today. (Okay, maybe that's overdoing it, but you get the idea.)

Update: Grrr, technical difficulties with the newsletter. My bad for jumping the gun before getting the kinks worked out. Stay tuned, it's coming!

And here's another item that's sure to sell out quick: Secondipity has the refurbished Acer Iconia A500 10.1-inch Android tablet for $249 shipped. That's after applying coupon code 100bucks at checkout.

Even better, Secondipity donates a portion of the proceeds to public schools (by way of That's awesome; I wish more resellers would do likewise.

I'm not sure I need to explain anything beyond "10-inch tablet" and "$249," but I'll hit the highlights: the A500 has solid specs, including a dual-core processor, 16GB of storage, dual cameras, GPS, and Android 3.1 (Honeycomb).

Back in April, when it was brand new and selling for $449(!), CNET rated the A500 3.5 stars. The main complaint was with the heft: the tablet is one of the thickest and heaviest around (by today's standards; it's actually pretty close to the iPad 1 in terms of weight and girth).

Secondipity's product page doesn't mention anything about the warranty, though the company does offer a 30-day guarantee. Most likely, Acer covers this refurb for 90 days, but that's only a guess. If you want to know for sure, contact Secondipity before ordering.

Tablet prices are definitely in free-fall these days, so if you miss this deal, don't feel bad--there's almost certainly another one just around the corner. Heck, look no further than today's bonus deal.

Bonus deal: The tablet deal of the year is back. The refurbished Barnes & Noble Nook Color is available for $129 shipped at both eBay and Wherever you buy it, you still get a one-year warranty. I know you're probably sick of me gushing about this thing, but at $129 it's just too good to pass up. (Granted, it was $119 a couple weeks ago, but who knows if it'll ever dip that low again?)
