Get an 8GB Creative Zen player for $89.99 shipped (yep, it smokes the iPod nano too)

This is a new unit, not a refurb, and it has features you won't find on the nano--like an FM tuner and SD expansion slot.

Twice the storage and lots more features than the nano, all for $10 less. Creative

The last time I posted about the 8GB Creative Zen media player, it was $150. Now you can pick one up (new) for just $89.99 shipped--10 bucks less than the price of a refurbished, 4GB iPod nano. Now, lest you think I'm dumping on Apple or something (the suggestion did arise after last Thursday's post about the Sansa), let me explain why this is by far the better buy.

The Zen has a larger screen (2.5 inches), an FM tuner, twice the storage, and an SD card slot for adding even more storage. (Care for another 8GB? Here's a card for $16 (!) after rebate.) As for video, you can stock the Zen with movies and TV shows from Amazon Unbox. (It's also compatible with Vongo, which offers all-you-can-watch movies for a flat monthly rate.)

Admittedly, the nano is slimmer and sexier than the Zen, and iTunes is pretty much unbeatable when it comes to audiobooks and podcasts. So it's not a slam-dunk victory for the Zen--but, let's face it, if you're in the market for a player like this, you get a ton more bang for the buck.
