Have you switched over to a voice-over-IP phone system like MagicJack, NetTalk, or Ooma? Now's the perfect time to replace your crummy old corded phones with a spiffy new wireless system.

Woot

Or at least a spiffy refurbished wireless system, like this one: today only, and while supplies last, Tech Woot has the refurbished Panasonic KX-TG4023N cordless phone system for $29.99, plus $5 for shipping.

The KX-TG4023N comes with one base station and two additional handsets that connect to it via DECT 6.0 wireless technology. You can expand the system with up to three additional handsets (for a total of six).

That base station doubles as an answering system, though if you're using this with a VoIP service, you'll probably prefer to bypass the "answering machine" functions in favor of your service's voice mail.

Of course, this will work with traditional copper-wire phone service as well as VoIP systems. I mentioned the latter because I recently replaced an aging Uniden system (for my Ooma-powered home phone) with a similar Panasonic rig, and the improvements in range and sound quality were significant.

Panasonic promises 13 hours of talk time and 11 days of standby for each handset, which runs off a pair of rechargeable batteries (and recharges when docked in its base, natch). The handsets themselves are "champagne gold" with an amber LCD backlight. Panasonic supplies a plastic belt clip for folks who like to walk around the house with a phone clipped to their belt.

This system sells new for more than twice the price. Because it's a refurb, however, you're stuck with a 90-day warranty. Still, if you're looking for an inexpensive upgrade to your current phone system, this is hard to pass up.

Bonus deal: Sick of spam? Today only, BitsDuJour is again offering MailWasher Pro 2012 (Win) free of charge. This popular utility intercepts e-mail from the server and gives you the chance to preview and "wash" it before it gets downloaded. It's normally $29.95 (and $19.95 per year thereafter, which still applies here).

Bonus deal No. 2: I didn't make this today's featured deal because of sellout concerns, but TigerDirect has the refurbished Logitech Harmony One remote for $89.99, plus $2.99 for shipping. That's the lowest price I've seen on this wholly awesome remote, which sells new for nearly twice the price.

Bonus deal No. 3: Game time! Green Man Gaming is offering the original Mass Effect (Win) for just $4 when you use coupon code DERHE-RRDER-RINGE at checkout. This hugely popular action-RPG is a steal at that price.
