Get a $500 Mac software bundle for $50

OK, the actual value is $486, but it's still a killer buy on 11 sweet Mac apps. Plus: three bonus deals!

While we're on the subject of software bundles (see yesterday's post), I thought I'd mention one that's just for Mac users. (Seems only fair, as yesterday's game collection was just for Windows.)

From now through December 12, Cult of Mac is offering the Winter 2011 Mac Phenom Bundle for $50. This collection of 11 Mac applications and utilities has a combined value of almost $500.

Now, I'm not a Mac user myself, so I have no first-hand experience with any of these programs. If you do, hit the comments and let your fellow cheapskates know how they rate.

On paper, they all look pretty good. The bundle includes word processor Nisus Writer Pro, photo enhancer PhotoStyler, duplicate remover Tidy Up, and uninstaller AppDelete.

Alas, the Phenom Bundle has no affiliation with any charities, but, hey, software developers gotta eat, too. If you own a Mac, this looks like considerable bang for the buck.

Bonus deal: While supplies last, J&R has the Pogoplug media-sharing device for $24.99. It's the pink model (shudder), but it still lets you connect up to four USB drives to your network. Shipping is free when you sign up for J&R's Friends with Benefits program (also free).

Bonus deal No. 2: Need a new router? TigerDirect has the refurbished Netgear WNR1000 RangeMax 150 for $14.99, plus $6.55 for shipping. It's an 802.11n router, of course (you'll never see me post anything but).

Bonus deal No. 3: Big tablets are finally getting smaller prices. While supplies last, Best Buy has the Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101-X1 10-inch tablet (16GB) for $299.99 shipped (plus sales tax in most states). This is the original Transformer, not the new version everyone's drooling over, but it's still among the top-rated 10-inch tabs on the market.
