Automatic Update 1.1 installs new versions of Software Update files

CNET staff
If you run Mac OS 9's Software Update control panel, it should report that Automatic Update 1.1 is available. If you select to install this update, it installs new 1.1 versions (dated December 14) of the Software Update Engine and Software Update Scheduler extensions and the Software Update control panel. (Thanks, Isidoro Balistreri and Roy Hirose.)
Update: Tom McKenna writes: "The new Software Update software now makes it possible to do downloads with AOL. Previously, starting a download would cause you to lose your connection to AOL."

Update: The software is now available from Apple's web site. The page states that the update: "provides enhancements which will make it faster to deliver Apple software updates over the Internet. Software Update 1.1 includes Disk image support and MacBinary and AppleSingle support which allows files to be encoded more efficiently." (Thanks, Dan Daranciang.)
